Color correction in Northville, Michigan.

Box dye, banding, brassiness, or work from somewhere else that did not land. No judgment, an honest plan, and a price before anything begins.

What counts as a color correction

Color correction is the category for anything that has to undo previous color before it can build new color. It is not a single service with a fixed length, which is why it is the one item on the menu priced at consultation rather than with a number next to it.

Why it is priced at consultation

Two people can walk in describing the same problem in the same words and need completely different amounts of work. What is actually on the hair, how many products have been layered on it, how it responds to lightener, and how much integrity is left all change the plan. Quoting a flat price before seeing the hair would mean either overcharging some people or running out of time on others.

So the consultation is free, it is unhurried, and you leave it knowing what the work involves and what it will cost before anything is committed to. Transparency is a stated value here, not a tagline — you will be told what is realistic, including when the honest answer is that the result you want is going to take more than one visit.

One session, or several

Some corrections finish in an afternoon. Many do not, and it is worth understanding why. Lifting artificial pigment out of hair is a chemical process with limits, and pushing past those limits in one sitting is how hair gets destroyed. A responsible correction sometimes means getting you to a good, wearable place today and a great place six or eight weeks from now.

A stylist who promises a dramatic correction in a single visit without seeing your hair first is making a promise about chemistry they cannot actually keep. Multi-session plans are not upselling; they are what keeps your hair on your head.

How to prepare

Once you are corrected, keeping you there is much easier — usually a balayage or foil maintenance rhythm with a gloss in between.

Common questions

How much does color correction cost?

It is quoted at the consultation, which is complimentary. The price depends on what is already on the hair, how much of it has to come out, and how many hours the work takes. You will have a number before any work begins.

Can you fix box dye?

Usually, yes, though it may take more than one session depending on how many applications are layered on and how evenly they lifted. Box dye is one of the most common reasons people book a correction, and it is a normal thing to walk in with.

Will color correction ruin my hair?

Not if it is done at a pace the hair can tolerate. Assessing integrity is part of the consultation, and the plan is built around what your hair can actually handle. This is precisely why some corrections are deliberately split across multiple appointments rather than forced into one.

How many sessions will I need?

Anything from one to three or more, depending on the starting point and the goal. You will get an honest estimate at the consultation rather than a number designed to make the booking sound easier than it is.

I had my hair done somewhere else and hate it. Is that awkward?

No. It is an extremely common reason to book, and there is no judgment involved. Bring the details of what was done so the correction can be planned properly.

Do you do consultations before booking a correction?

Yes, and for corrections it is strongly encouraged. The consultation is complimentary and can be booked online like any other appointment.
